19 Mar Introducing the Woogmaster Blog
Moving to Las Vegas four years ago began as an academic adventure, which was quickly sidelined as I became immersed in the practice of design. On this platform I hope to take the occasional step back into the world of words and images that inspire me, and to play – if at times only lightly – at analysis of the spaces and objects that move us so strongly.
I believe there are universal factors in the way that individual humans, and whole societies, experience, feel, act, and respond to the built and designed environments around them. In lieu of sharing the book I once thought I’d write on the topic, I’ll offer briefer thoughts, photographs, and comments on this platform. I’ve come to believe that there is no all-encompassing rule in design, but I hope to share here personal moments of discovery that begin to shed light on the complex relationships and underlying truths in design that evoke from our souls the senses of comfort, wonder, power, delight, their opposites, and everything in between, that for us are so beguiling.
While the ideas I post may not always be lofty or exquisitely crafted, I do look forward to the honor of your responses (which you may most easily share on Facebook). There is no intellectual growth if we do not share our thoughts – and while I hope you’ll agree with many of my ideas, I look forward to learning from your honest criticisms just the same.
Thank you for following!
